Little Blue Pigeon, Denver, Colorado
Set in Denver's historic Larimer Square neighborhood in a former 19th century dance hall (the building also housed a saddlery and a headquarter for the Masons over the decades), Little Blue Pigeon is an unusually handsome, high ceilinged store, with lots of nooks for curling up with a good book. Founder Paige Dungan was a book publicist for some 20 years, so she brings deep expertise to the task of stocking the shop with books that will appeal to a wide array of readers. And though the bookstore only opened in May of 2026, it's already established itself as a popular neighborhood hangout, especially for families who enjoy looking for the pigeon figurines Dungan hides around the store as a scavenger hunt. In addition to author events, the Little Blue Pigeon sponsors "Artisan Nights" during which local makers teach crafts.
